St. Constantine International School (SCIS) Hiring Secondary Cover Supervisor

St. Constantine’s International School (SCIS) is proud to be the oldest international school in Tanzania and the largest in the northern region. Founded in 1951, we are a not-for-profit, co-educational day and boarding school.

Our curriculum is built around the Cambridge programme, from Early Years through to IGCSEs and A-Levels, and we are also members of the Round Square network of schools.

The Role

We are looking for a Secondary Cover Supervisor to join our team. The person in this role will provide cover for teachers when they are absent, working with students across different year groups (Key Stages 3–5).

This is not simply “babysitting a classroom” – the successful candidate will keep lessons on track, maintain discipline, and create a positive atmosphere that fosters smooth learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Covering lessons across the secondary school (and occasionally primary if required).

  • Following pre-prepared lesson plans to keep students engaged and learning.

  • Managing behaviour and ensuring a calm, respectful classroom environment.

  • Supporting students with their academic and personal development.

  • Communicating with staff and parents where needed.

  • Taking part in school activities, events, and training sessions.

  • Carrying out pastoral duties such as being a form tutor.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience (essential).

  • Knowledge of the English or Cambridge curriculum (an advantage).

  • Good classroom management skills.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate young people.

  • A flexible, positive, and professional attitude.
